Upper School

Upper School Course Options

At Hsinchu County American School, English, History, Languages, Math, and Science are considered as core courses. A student taking a full course load (honors-university preparatory and Advanced Placement courses) will graduate with 26 credits. 1 credit consists of 3 courses of 85 minutes per week (with 5 min break) for one year. School contact days are approximately 180 days per year. Entry into all AP subjects is restricted by prerequisites. HCAS added an honors option to high school math and English classes for the 2020-2021 school year. AP Courses were also greatly expanded. See the full list below.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from Hsinchu County American School, students must receive a minimum of 22 academic credits and fulfill the requirements in Arts, Health, Physical Education, and Service Learning (suggested 60 hours of service) listed below. Students may choose to do a senior project which will be given a credit as an elective. Specific departmental requirements are:
